All Fall Down

28 Oct

Saturday: I have been in awe of the leaves changing colors and always love to take photos and use them as a backdrop. So as the big storm approaches, this will probably be the only photo of the colorful leaf changes that will appear on my blog this year. You know all the wind and the rain will rip the leaves from their branches and leave the trees bare before their time. Anyways, you I always tell you how I like a baggy, dropped crotch pant, well this is another such one I am wearing today. I also like the windowpane detail and the slight distressing. It’s hard to tell, but up close they have some markings that make them look worn in. I chose to wear my moto boots with them because I needed to wear flats but also because they just somehow needed to be styled with the pants. Sometimes there is no explanation for wearing certain things, it’s just whatever you feel like at that time or whatever you think works when you put it together. Like this old bell-sleeved sweatshirt that I’ve had forever. So there you have it, my outfit of the day. I pray that everyone is safe and well as Sandy arrives. God Bless!

Huntress

28 Oct

Friday: I wore this ensemble to the annual CCCS that Michelle and I attend. As I explained before, it’s a mad dash to find all the pieces that you are interested in, try them on real quick (all while watching the other pieces that you have scored and your own clothes n shoes that you came with) before anyone tries to take them from you. So it calls for easy (one piece and it snaps instead of buttons), comfortable dressing where you can get in and out of them quickly all while in a room full of women doing the same. Anyway, this denim dress I thrifted some time last year. I was super excited to see it on the rack for only $5. It is in perfect, like-new. It came with its own belt but I didn’t like how it looked. I was going to wear one of my own belts but felt like that would make things a little too complicated and less functional which is the reason for wearing this dress in the 1st place. And of course, I had to wear my new favorite, goes with anything, comfortable booties. As for the fabulous things we found, between the both of us, we got a pair of Celine leather pants, a Chanel tweed jacket, Stella McCartney slacks, some belts, a DVF vest, a Rag & Bone top and a brand new with tags Lanvin skirt that retailed for $1500 and I paid under $100! Now that was definitely worth the trip and the crowd of fashion hungry women! It’s all for a great cause and mad fun to do if you’re a fashion/clothes lover and enjoy a little hustle and bustle and thrill of the hunt! We love it! It’s so much fun and even better when you find those special pieces. Well, hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

This is an outfit worn last week. When I went to post it, along with the reasoning behind the pieces that I chose to wear and the styling, something funky happened with my computer and the post didn’t save. So, needless to say, I got frustrated and didn’t continue. So here it is today, without the dialogue because I just cannot go thru it again knowing that I had done it before to no avail. So please forgive me and continue to read the other posts I will be posting today. Anyways, you may be happy that I’m not talking (writing) as much as I usually do. I know I can talk too much sometimes. Thanks for reading and those of you who do comment. God Bless!

That’s A Wrap

21 Oct

Saturday: Another warm, Autumn day. Days like this were made for skirts/dresses and boots. I had this wrap skirt for a few years now but was never inspired to wear it. It’s been on my radar for about a month now and I thought today was the day for it to appear. Since the skirt shows alot of leg, I decided to be more covered up on the top with this “go with anything/everything” denim/chambray button down. I have acquired quite a few denim/chambray shirts but this has become my new favorite. I like that it is different then just the plain ones. The acid/tye-dye, streaky effect makes it more interesting. The tag actually says it’s acid wash. But whatever it is, I like it. Added a statement necklace to complete the look. I love this time of year when the leaves change. They make for beautiful photos. The weatherman said this is the peak time for leaf color changes in our area so I was trying to get so pics before they all fall of the trees. Most of the leaves were really high on top the trees today but maybe I can find some for next weekend’s photos. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Sunday: I decided to dress this skirt down by wearing a sweatshirt and some booties with it. It is actually supposed to be a “sexy” skirt due to the fit and also the side zipper which zips up pretty high to reveal some thigh. So you all know me when it comes to the “sexy” factor. That’s just not me. I really liked the color and fit of the skirt but wanted to make it more quirky and sporty. Also, I was going to church and that’s just not appropriate. Maybe next time I might just unzip it for photos sake. I just might wear it with a more “sexy” shoe, a pointy toe pump, the next time too. Anyway, I like how the colors in the sweatshirt play off the color of the skirt. The skirt is actually a more vibrant salmon orange color but the photos don’t show that well.  I love how to unexpected pieces just go well together when styled right. In thought, one wouldn’t think that a sweatshirt would go with a pencil skirt but juxtaposition just somehow works. I love to mix things up that way. It just makes for a more interesting outfit. As for the background scenery, Javar insisted on getting the drive-thru in the photos. I don’t know why, but I try not to question the photographer’s vision (ha ha). I let him do his thing because one day he will tire of being my photographer and I will have to resort to the good ‘ole tripod (ugh!). Hope you enjoyed your weekend, mine was too short! God Bless!

Friday: This is what I wore to go run errands. I was gone all day so it was already dark when I got a chance to take pics. This is a look from my favorite fashion decade, the 70’s. I can see Mary Richards (aka Mary Tyler Moore) wearing an outfit like this in the news room on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”. But she might have worn a pair of slacks instead of jeans.  Same idea though, flared pants, a button down shirt and a blazer. I wore this denim shirt (with bleached/acid effects not seen in photos) to give the outfit a modern feel. Also wore the big hair to go with the whole look. Those days were all about the volume in the hair (remember the Pert shampoo commercials?). Everyone wanted that gorgeous head of hair that Farrah Faucett possessed. That’s what my hair reminds me of. Anyways, this was the result of the wind blowing my hair all around at the time of the photos and all day long. Well, one more day of straight hair then back to my natural curls. God Bless!

Warm and Dry Layers

9 Oct

Sunday: This was my rainy day, have to stand out in the cold, football game outfit. Layers, jeans, rain boots and a hat. No explaination but trying to stay warm and dry while watching my son’s game. Also layered my Michael Kors (not shown in pics) rain poncho on top. Added the pearls to soften the overall look. Anyways, Fall is definitely upon us. Some leaves have already started to fall but I can’t wait to see all the great colors of the leaves as the gradually change on the trees. Those make for some amazing pictures. What do you like about Fall? God Bless!
