Sporty Chic

Sunday: So it doesn’t happen often (which may come as a surprise,I think he is just used to my choices in ensembles) but Javar actually questioned my outfit today. He just couldn’t believe that I was gonna wear these track pants with those heels. And then after everything he saw how I was putting it all together he says, ” I guess it depends on how you wear it”. I just laughed. I know it’s a “different” way of wearing this type of sporty pants but I like how adding a classic pointy toe pump can elevate them from sporting activity to chic street style. Along with other accessories. Also, try wearing a neck scarf to help transform any look. There are several ways to tie it. Choose one that fits your style and the outfit to add something else to a look instead of the expected necklace. Have fun and enjoy fashion, that’s what I do. I don’t take it seriously, I just love fashion and trying different looks. Hope you had a great weekend. God Bless!

100% Vegan

Saturday: First off let me just clarify the title of this post. No I am not a vegan. I am would you would call a flexitarian. Sometimes I eat meat and dairy products and then most times I don’t eat meat at all. You know like chicken, beef or pork. I eat fish all the time! Nothing wrong with either being a vegan, vegetarian or whatever else. Do what you feel is best for you. So, even though I’m not 100%vegan, these pants are. So hence the title of this post. Ok, so now that we have that out of the way let’s discuss the outfit. I love to dress down leather, whether it be a skirt or a pair of pants. A cozy knit sweater is one way of doing just that. Also, I had to pull out this sneakers that I got when I purchased the black ones worn here. As you know, I don’t wear sneakers much but I thought I should rock them on a rainy day such as today. Sometimes when it rains I really don’t feel like getting dress and/or leaving the house but since Javar had a b-ball game today, I wanted to be comfy and low key. How do you like to dress on a rainy day? God Bless!

Sunday: I decided that I better start getting some wear out of my “exclusively Winter” clothing. Meaning, anything that should only be worn during the Winter months and cannot really transition to Spring or Summer. That would be any wool, cashmere, heavy knits, corduroy or heavy leathers, like this skirt. Anything else can pretty much be worn in the Spring or Summer (I’m speaking in terms of the East Coast seasons). So I thought I would wear this vintage leather that I thrifted probably well over a year or so ago. Thrifting is a great way to find some good leather pieces without spending an arm and a leg on them. The only downfall about thrifting them is sometimes it may cost you more to have them cleaned then what you paid for it. Reason being because most dry cleaners don’t clean leather, you have to go to one that specifically cleans leathers and suedes. But if you love the piece, it’s definitely worth the investment because it will last you forever and leather is always timeless. Anyway, I wanted to make the outfit more relaxed so I paired the skirt with this knit sweater. Along with the booties (which I realized I had never worn until now-I just forget until an outfit option comes to mind), it just makes the whole ensemble more casual. You could also dress it up with a blouse and pumps and wear it to the office. That’s what’s so great about owning a leather skirt, it’s versatile. Sidebar: the wind was ridiculous today! At times we even had some flurries coming down. Ugg, I’m so tired of Winter! So looking forward to Spring. Hope you all had a great weekend. Thanks for visiting! God Bless! Sunday: I love wearing full on color during the Winter. Some people believe that color is only made for the warmer days that the Spring and Summer bring. They often resort to blacks and browns and other such neutrals. Which is fine as long as you add in a pop of color. Or if you do the all black thing occasionally. But not day in and day out. I think that when you only do those dark colors, especially during the Winter, they somehow affect your overall mood and attitude. Some people tend to go thru the Winter Blues where their mood is more on the depressive side due to the colder weather and shorter days. But if you put a little color into your Winter wardrobe, it might also help uplift your spirit and mood. It has been said over and over again, you’re outside appearance has an effect on your inner feelings. I believe that to be true. When you look good, you feel good. That also goes for colors. When you wear a cheerful/bright color, it can uplift your mood. Think about it. Have you ever seen someone wearing bright/colorful clothing walking around looking down and depressed? I haven’t. I digress. I hope I inspired someone to step out of the Winter dark color box and wear some color. Anyways, I am doing the extreme with color today. Not only am I doing a vibrant green and black pencil skirt, but I also had to pair it with this color blocked sweater that not only had the green/black but also a touch of fushia.  Then I didn’t stop there, I also chose to do bright/vibrant makeup today. Overkill? No, not for me. I just do whatever my mood calls for. What do you think? Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

The World is the Runway

Saturday: Not many are fans, but as for me, I love some camo. Camouflage can be dressed down or dressed up. I prefer to dress it up a little. I especially love to wear it with more feminine pieces to keep it from going too soldier (which is the original intent but we civilians like to wear it too). Try to pair it with a more sexy/feminine shoe to take it from battlefield to runway (“EVERY DAY IS A FASHION SHOW AND THE WORLD IS THE RUNWAY”-Coco Chanel). I like how these pointy toe boots peek out from the bottom of the pants. I also like to add a pop of color in some way to keep the look from being too drab and neutral. I chose this vibrant turtleneck but I could’ve also went with a neutral colored top and a colored shoe as the pop of color. These camo cargos from the men’s department, my favorite, because they give me that loose, slouchy fit that I love so much. I left the drawstrings at the ankles loose to keep the pants straight and long. I also purchased a gray pair like these that I will probably wear with the drawstrings tightened exposing some ankle. I’ll have to see how that works out and post the photos. I thank God we dodged the bullet of that snow storm but for those who didn’t, stay safe. I can’t wait until this thing called Winter is gone. I’m looking forward to warmer weather and longer days. How about you? God Bless!

These photos are actually from last Friday. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you may have noticed that I didn’t have a post for last week. Well, these are the photos that didn’t get posted. I usually post on Sundays but due to the Super Bowl I forgot and then other life things took place on Monday and doing a blog post wasn’t even on my radar the whole week (until yesterday my mom reminded me that she didn’t see a new post from last week). So I apologize for the absence but here you have last weeks pics. Nothing special, just jeans and a sweater to do errands in before the snow started. The jeans are vintage mom jeans. Not my mom’s jeans but “mom jeans” that I distressed myself. The sweater is the 3rd from ones I got from Old Navy a little while ago. Remember I already wore the fox one and the owl one seen in other posts. I like the juxtaposition of the quirkiness of the sweater with the toughness of the moto boots. Anyway, there you have it. Thanks for reading! God Bless!
