Sunday: A casual and relaxed look. That’s what I love about jeans, they can be styled in many different ways. Today I chose to dress them down with a tee and a pair of slip on sneakers. A mostly all gray and black look that is very different for me. I am a lover of color, prints and patterns to to catch me in a monochromatic or dark colors is unusual. This wasn’t done purposely but just came out that way. The jeans are a loose, slouchy pair, my favorite type of jean. The sneakers were a random find that I purchased post toe surgery. They’re actually very comfy. You wouldn’t believe what I paid for them! I almost got them for free! I wish you could see them better. They are canvas, the color of my jeans. A little black-gray and the top is black sequins. The whole look is a bit masculine so I added the blingy, feminine necklace to balance it out a little. And of course, the leatherette blazer completes the look. Hooe you had a great weekend! God Bless!

You Look So Much Better When You Smile

Friday: Giving these overalls another spin since last wearing them here. But styled them up for these chilly Autumn temps. Since I had to go to Javar’s night game, I decided to layer really well. I also thought I would wear them the way we used to rock them back in the day with one strap up and one strap down. Partly for style and partly to reveal the “Smile” sweater. The whole ensemble worked out quite well at the game, especially with the edition of a pair of tights underneath. The only thing that I would change would have been to change out these GI-normous metal earrings that became ice cold while sitting out in the frigid temps of the night, lol. Well, all for now. Thanks for reading. God Bless!

Sunday: Finally wearing this vintage jumpsuit that I thrifted a few years ago. I love the shoulder pads and the neckline. Yeah, I still rock the shoulder pads that are found in the vintage treasures that I love. Some people will take them out because they are definitely reminiscent of a certain era. But that’s why I like to keep them in because if I’m going to rock vintage, I like to keep it authentic. But instead of trying to dress it up (it can go dressy due to the design and the material), I chose to dress it down and make the look more quirky and relaxed with these cutout flat booties. I like the juxtaposition of the soft, girly floral jumpsuit with these tough, edgy booties. The flat boots were also worn today for function purposes also since I was on photo duty at church (visual arts department). Which leads me to another obstacle. Trying to put together all black outfits for when I’m taking photos/video taping at church. My duties are 2 Sundays a month so follow me as I try to accomplish these looks since I probably only worn all black maybe once in my life. To a funeral and it was a skirt suit. So let’s see what I can come up with in the way of all black (mine will probably be a little black and some other neutral color) and also something comfy to move about it. I guess I’m up for the challenge, because it will definitely be one coming from a girl who loves color and pattern. Well, I hope you all had a great weekend! God Bless!

Patch Things Up

Saturday: This was my game day outfit. I don’t know when this all denim trend is going to fade but I’m going to keep rocking it until I’m tired of it. This time around I decided to wear my denim cap. Also, the patchwork denim is a new trend happening right now. I haven’t seen it much on the streets but definitely in the fashion magazines. It reminds me of the patchwork looks that they used to wear back in the 70’s. Mostly done in various fabrics of different colors. I actually had a pair of patchwork suede jeans back in the early 90’s. Another one of those pieces that I wish I would’ve kept. Anyways, wore these burgundy colored suede booties to add a little color to the ensemble. And the plaid shirt adds more color but also a laid back, relaxed vibe. Is your wardrobe ready for these cool Fall temps yet? God Bless!

Sunday: I finally decided to drag this oldie but goodie out of the closet. I’ve had this dress for about 5 1/2 years now and have only worn it once. It’s actually one of my favorites but just because I consider pieces my “favorite” doesn’t mean I wear them alot. It just means that they are pieces that I love and I probably won’t ever get rid of. I wore the dress with this striped blouse to make it more fun because the dress alone came come off too serious. Not that I don’t like that, but this way is just different since I wore it like that before. I love that the dress is signature Tory with that retro vibe. I could definitely see Betty Draper or one of the other ladies from Mad Men wearing this dress. The entire look just gives me that vintage vibe that I love so much! Well, enough said about the outfit. Enjoy the upcoming week. God Bless!

Saturday: You know I can’t resist a day when I can go bare-legged. So as long as we keep being blessed with these beautiful Fall days, I will keep exposing these legs until I can’t anymore. This mixed print dress is one from the Duro Olowu X JCP collection.  Just an easy, comfy piece that I could just throw on, style it up a bit and go. I styled it with these motorcyle-esque booties to edge up the look a little and threw on my hat since my hair was tame enough to accommodate it today, lol! And the sweater is the completer piece but also helps if I get a little chilly. So this is one way of taking your Summer pieces into the Fall. Tights would also work when it gets even cooler out. Hope you had a great weekend, thanks for reading! God Bless!

Sunday: Even though the weather is still rather warm for October, it was a little chilly this a.m. so I decided to go with pants. My thought was since we are having this unusually warm (well hot yesterday mid 80’s!) weather, I’m going to take full advantage of it and either wear open toe shoes or go bare-legged in a skirt. As you can see the pants and open toes won out. These mixed animal print/safari-esque pants I purchased a few months back. I loved that they are really lightweight, somewhat slouchy and long in length. I knew that I needed to wear a pretty high heel so that they wouldn’t drag the ground but from looking at these photos, I guess I need to have them hemmed a little too. I guess I’ll get around to taking them to the tailor one day. Anyway, I came the entire look neutral by wearing this olive tee to play off the greens in the pants. And the sandal/shoe helped with the height but also pops (if brown could ever be a “pop” color, lol) against all the colors in the pants. I also decided to wear my animal print Loc Soc (my new favorite hair accessory, check it out) to keep my hair up. Some might say that’s too much. Maybe for them, but not for me. Sometimes more is more. Hence the arm full of tribal/ethnic bangles and necklace. What are your thoughts? Is there such a thing as too much? Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!
