Black on Black on Black

Sunday: So this is my all black ensemble (with animal print accessories to make it less boring!) for my church duties today. If you remember my post (my tantrum, lol!) from last Sunday, I can now tell you that I think I resolved my problem. Last night I pulled out every black piece that I owned (not all, but most of what I could get my hands on). I started putting several outfits together that would be appropriate for when I was on Visual Arts duty at church. It actually went better than expected! I mean, it only took me about 2 hours to pull everything, style it and try it on. I know that sounds like a lot but all black is rather boring to me and I just needed to put together some outfits so that I am ready when the time comes. So when those days come, all I need to do is grab one of those outfits, accessorize it and go! Like I said before, jackets can be a great finishing piece to any outfit by helping it to look more interesting. So, with that being said, I will be wearing some style of black jacket with every one of those outfits! Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Function or Fashion?

Saturday: Just a little leopard and neon today. Thought I’d put a twist on these leopard leggings by pairing them with this bright neon yellow sweatshirt. I like how the color pops off of the basic neutrals but it is also toned down a bit by the neutrals. It was actually a little brighter than it photographed.¬† The leggings aren’t as thin as your ordinary leggings. They are actually quite thick, more like a light-weight jean. It’s also that time of year when we gotta pull out the skullies, or beanies as they’re called outside of da ‘hood, lol. Today I wore it more for its function but it doesn’t hurt to coordinate it with your outfit. It can give an outfit a more laid-back vibe. Who said you can’t dress for function and still be fashionable? What’s your take on it? Do you dress for function, fashion or both? God Bless!

Fringe Benefits

Friday: Quick post of what I wore to run around to do errands. One of our warm Fall days (probably the last) where only a sweater or light jacket (b/c of a little rain) was needed. Even though the sole of my foot was sore (long story; not quite sure what’s going on yet), these fringed wedges were tolerable. I picked these wedges up at the end of the season sale back in the beginning of this year. I don’t own many grey shoes/boots so these were nice to add to my collection. The style kind of reminds of Isabel Marant boots, which are out of my price range. Anywho, that’s all for now. Got 2 other post to do. God Bless!

All Black Everything

Sunday: Ok, remember how I said that I am on the Visual Arts Team at church and we have to wear all black? Well, today was my day to do photos and this is my all black ensemble that I put together. OMG! Can I just tell you that I was sooo frustrated last night trying to put together an all black outfit that I felt comfortable in! When I say comfortable, I’m not talking physically comfortable but mentally/emotionally comfy in. By that I mean that I am not an all black type of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I do like when I see some women or men in all all black. It actually looks very chic to me. But it’s just not for me. Everything that I tried on was just not working for me. I can really say that I can sympathize with the women who say that they just don’t feel good when they get dressed sometimes. That’s exactly how I felt in those all black outfits. And because I wasn’t going to be disobedient, I just had to find something that would work. I know, a little color or something wouldn’t be blatantly disrespectful, but I do try to wear something to fade into the background as to not draw attention to myself as I am trying to inconspicuously take photos. But anyways, after about an hour or so, I decided that I could just wear a black jacket over my black bottoms. The details of the jacket and my pewter shooties take away the boringness of a colorless and patternless outfit. And of course, accessories can’t hurt either! How do you feel about wearing all black? Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Saturday: Thought I would rock a little 90’s grunge look. The “grunge” look consisted mainly of a plaid button down shirt and jeans. We wore everything a bit oversized and big in the 1990’s. So this plaid shirt is an old shirt that I picked up from the men’s department several years ago. You already know how I love to wear men’s clothes. They are just cut differently than women’s and give me that slouchy, baggy feel/look that I like. I’m gonna keep this one short so I’m out for now. God Bless!

Sack It to Me

Sunday: I love the fit of this dress. Yeah, it’s a sack but I like that about it. I don’t recall when I purchased it or if I’ve even worn it before but it fit the mood that I was in this morning. I dress according to how I feel when I get up in the morning. That’s what my decision to wear for the day is based on. Not that it’s really a mood, so to speak, but just how I feel I want to look for the day. So, it’s based on whether I’m happy, sad, mad, or whatever, it’s just what I feel like wearing on said day. Anyway, I digress.¬† So as you see I’ve straightened my hair. I was well overdue to for trim so I had to do it. Even though I love my natural kinks and curls more, my ends needed some TLC by way of a trim. Well, the trim turned out to be more of a cut due to some splits and not having them trimmed more often (I won’t do that again). But I don’t care about length. I’m more concerned with having healthy hair. Anyway, I say all of that to say, I will probably be wearing a hat every day now since I am able to fit them over my hair! Yay! I love my hats! So you will probably get sick of seeing me wear them for the next few weeks until I go back to kinky/curly again. Just warning you ahead of time, lol! Well, that’s all for now! Hope you have a blessed week! God Bless!

Hat Attack

Saturday: Windy days are not meant to take photos, especially when wearing a hat! On top of the wind not cooperating, the battery in my camera was dead from taking photos at Javar’s football game. So these photos were rushed while trying to squeeze them out of a little bit of battery life while turning the camera on and off. I finally found a hat to fit over my hair when it’s in it’s natural state but decided to wear it on my freshly straightened hair. Of course, the fit isn’t snug, hence the reason the wind kept trying to blow it off my head. But that’s ok, it fits my natural hair perfectly, which none of my other hats do. Anyways, I pulled out my authentic leather motorcycle jacket that I’ve had for several years now. I don’t wear it very often because it is so heavy and makes me hot if it’s not very cold outside. It was perfect to sit out at the f-ball game though. I tried to get a photo of the back but the camera died and would not come back on. Maybe next time. After the game, we went to my aunt’s house to celebrate her 60th b-day, which was the same day as mine. Yes, I was born on her b-day! We had a great time, as usual! How was your weekend? God Bless!
