Wrap Life

27 May

IMG_2758 IMG_2752 IMG_2753 IMG_2760 IMG_2756

Sunday: With such beautiful weather I decided it is now time to go sleeveless and barelegged. Just a basic black drop waist dress but in a more sporty fabric. I wore these multi-buckle flat shoes for a bit of interest in such a “boring” all black ensemble. Also, flats to be comfortable for my duties in church. The African fabric headwrap is not only to have my hair up and out of the way but also to add a little bit of color to the whole look. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time, God Bless!

Super Heroes and Gladiators

Saturday: I love the look of a casual outfit with a pair of heels. So basically that’s all this is. A fun graphic print raglan tee and a pair of distressed cutoff shorts. A statement necklace adds another element of interest. Gladiators are still trending this season again. So instead of opting for a flat pair, I chose these heeled ones that I have been looking to purchase for some time now but just couldn’t find a pair in my price range. Remember, it’s ok to try out trends, you (I) just don’t want to spend a lot of money for something that I may not get much wear out of. Some pieces that are super trendy that I won’t wear much after the trend has died down. But then again, you know me, I follow some trends but I still do things my way whether the masses are doing it or not. But anyways, I digress. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! Enjoying my extra day off. Gotta go do my other post that I’m behind on. God Bless!

Sunday: As I mentioned before, I love a two-toned pair of pants. They so remind me of the two-tone jeans we used to wear in the 80’s. So when I came across these trousers, I knew they were coming home with me. I purchased them several months ago but as usual and for no reason, hadn’t worn them until now. The blouse was a gift from my Secret Sister at church (we chose names and the unknowing “sister” gets a gift from you every month). I instantly knew that I wanted to wear it with these trousers to do a complete head to toe color block look. I’m also loving this chain linked choker that I picked up a few months ago. I knew it could come off a little S&M so I decided to wear it with this more conservative look. It gives the outfit a bit of an edge. Well, another weekend gone. Hope you had a great one! God Bless!

One Size 2 Small

Saturday: Let me just start by saying that I am officially out of a size 2! Not that I exclusively wore only a size 2, but I could get into some of them. But as of this day, I realize that I cannot get into it comfortably. I knew that this dress would be a squeeze (literally) when I prepared to wear it but I was determined that I would at least get one wear out of it (I tend to purchase formal/semi-formal dresses at great prices and keep them on hand in my closet until needed)! I haven’t mentioned it on the blog, but I’ve been working out since December with the hubby/personal trainer and I am starting to notice some small changes. My goal is to lift, tone and tighten those areas that gravity tends to wreck havoc on as we get older and less active. And just to be active and healthy in general. Even though I don’t have that body type that bulks up, I am definitely noticing my clothes fitting a tad bit different. Being the fashion girl that I am, I constantly remind him that I want long, lean muscles and not bulkiness. My fitting into my clothes a certain way and looking a certain way that I like is most important to me. I don’t have anything against woman who want big muscles (as far as being a woman), but for myself and my personal taste, my personal style is priority. So I am happy with the way my body is starting to look but I still need to work on my ab situation. I’m not trying to get a 6 pack but I need for my belly and love handles to disappear and to strengthen my core. So my new journey is now going to consist of less cakes and cookies and we’ll see if that helps (it will according to my trainer). 90% of being healthy/losing weight is all about the kitchen, what you eat. Which has never been a problem for me. But that sweets thing, it’s gonna be tough but I am going to give it a good try (mind over matter, lol!). Does anyone have a suggestions to alternatives besides fruit? Pray for as istah! Oh yeah, back to the dress. I wore it to one of my close friend’s wedding (Congratulations Tracy and Terrance!). I chose a neutral/nude platform to let the purple of the dress be the standout. Also, there’s nothing like a neutral/nude heel to elongate your legs. Until next time, God Bless!

It’s All About Me

Sunday: Sporting my Mother’s Day ensemble. Not my usual attire of slouchy/loose fitting but sometimes I do like a little bodycon action. Only instead of going for a complete “sexy” look, I had to add my own bit of quirkiness with the socks and heels thing. And the kitten heels instead of higher heels helps to curb the “sexy” thing. As I said before, there’s nothing wrong with a woman wanting to look and be sexy but that’s just not my goal when I dress. I’m more into the personal styling and adding something to make the look more interesting. Oh yeah, the little cutout in the bodice area (chest area) is one of the season’s trends. I didn’t forget, I’m still gonna do a trends post soon. Anyways, I hope all you mothers enjoyed our special day. I did! Did nothing for no one! Everyone waited on me! Yay! They usually do anyway but it just feels good to emphasize it. Have a great week! Looks like Spring weather is finally upon us! God Bless!

Sunday: Palazzos and camo is today’s theme. The pants I found while out on a shopping trip with my mom. Kohl’s is her favorite spot. It’s usually not on my usual shopping route but you know me, I can find something at any store, lol. So while browsing the clearance racks, I came across these sheer palazzo pants. I remember having a similar pair about 20 years ago (o.k. I’m showing my age, ha ha!) but those were slightly different because they weren’t lined like these and me being a young fashionista wasn’t aware that as I danced under the lights at a party, you could see straight thru them, eek! Now being more seasoned in fashion, I know to look for things like that! Anywho, didn’t want them to go too dressy so my good ole’ camo teeĀ  downplayed them some. I also like that depending on the angle and positioning, they actually look like a maxi skirt. Oh yeah, my lil gold loafer heels have been in hibernation for the last 3-4 yrs. I forgot about them until now and I know why. Because of my freakishly narrow heels, the flip a little when I walk. Thank God I didn’t have to walk too far or too long and I was able to keep my feet in them. Those shoes are notĀ  made for walking, lol! Ok, I’m out for now. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week! God Bless!

Saturday: I wore this outfit to a friend from high school’s bridal shower. I purchased it back during the Winter and thought I would finally get some wear out of it before it got too hot outside. It is a heavier, lined material that just wouldn’t go to well with the warmer months (“not season appropriate”). Kept the look more casual by wearing one my Christian/Faith-based message tees that I love (one of many forms of ministering about Jesus Christ). Also, still giving my hair a break by still rocking the cornrows you saw last week under one of my new wigs that I decided to give a try. I’m usually not a wig or weave person, but have on occasion rocked them at some point very briefly. But I think I like this wig thing! They are very convenient and helps to give my tresses a rest from being styled so often (which helps to limit breakage by not manipulating too much). Even though my youngest gave me such a hard time the day we stopped by the hair supply store and I came out with a wig. He doesn’t understand why I need to buy/wear a wig when I have hair. Men just don’t understand the trials and tribulations of being a woman, lol! Anyways, you know me, I love change and wearing a wig gives me the versatility I like when it comes to my overall personal style in clothing and hair. Until next time, God Bless!
