Slightly Exposed

31 May

I wore this little number to a graduation ceremony. I think I purchased it sometime last year but didn’t have an opportunity to wear it. The cutout trend is one that has been around for the past year and this particular cutout placement is in the ideal place without being too exposed or revealing. It is placed higher as to not expose the belly button area. I also like that the dress’s floral pattern keeps things more girly and playful. The material of the dress also gives it a more casual feel and could easily be styled with a flat sandal for an everyday look. I styled it with this mule-esque sandals that I’ve had for about 5-6+ years now. I believe I’ve only worn them maybe all of 1x. What do you think of the cutout trend? Have you or will you partake? God Bless!

Memorial Day: The heat is definitely on now! I am so excited for the hot weather! This is my time of the year. Good bye to all that yucky snow and freezing temps and hello to heat and humidity! Since I don’t quite have access to most of my Summer clothes yet, this dress was an easily accessible piece that I picked up during the colder months while doing some off-season shopping of the clearance racks. I love the color on my skin! I styled it more boho with the hat and boots. I love wearing a boot with dresses or shorts. Some may think that it’s too hot for boots but to me, it’s no hotter or different than wearing a pair of shoes or sneakers. Give it a try! It just completely changes the look of a dress or shorts. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

I’ve always been a fan of culottes/gauchos and have worn them even when they weren’t “on trend”. But now that they are trending and vastly available in almost every store, I can’t help but to purchase a pair every time i see them. So when I saw these in the JCP circular a few months ago, I knew I was gonna get them. And the fact that they had a matching top was a bonus. Even though I usually like to mix it up when it comes to styling, sometimes I can’t resist a good matchy-matchy ensemble. I knew I wanted to style the outfit with a pop of color on my feet so these babies I picked up from Greene Street Consignment a few months back fit the bill. God Bless!

Relaxed and Casual

Comfy was the theme for this outfit. I know, I usually don’t go for comfy, on purpose that is, but I wanted to be stylish yet relaxed and easy breezy. Hence, the reason why I am wearing Birkenstock-like sandals. I was never a big fan of Birkenstocks but since so many brands have been doing more stylish and updated versions, I have joined the trend. This pair attracted me because of the added embellishment of gem stones across the strap. They are still casual but the stones give them a little something extra. They show that you are trying but not trying too hard while still being comfortable and casual. And the “dress” I’ve worn more conservative with printed pants. It gives off that dress over pants trend that I adore. Are you a fan of the dress/skirt over pants trend? Until the next time, God Bless!

Belle of the Ball…Skirt

26 May

Mother’s Day: It was Mother’s Day, so why not dress up a little! As I’ve said before, I love a midi skirt! And this one I consider to be a ball skirt because it is a little more fancy than the norm. Meaning the fabric and structure makes it so it could be “dressed down” for everyday wear or “dressed up” to be worn on a more formal occasion. I’ve had it since the Winter and thought this to be the perfect opportunity to wear it. I just didn’t want to wear it with tights! ugh! The white tee keeps it casual enough but the mules keeps the look feminine and girlie enough. Sorry, for my absence, I have been very busy lately. I got a couple more outfit posts to make up for my absence. Gotta go for now! Thanks for your continued support! God Bless!

Just A Little Lacey

Sunday: Finally wearing this jumpsuit I bought a while ago. It’s completely lace (with a lining, of course) but it doesn’t translate too well in these photos. And it’s actually more cream colored. But anyway, I didn’t want it to be too dressy so I styled it with this denim vest and camo shoes. I could easily wear it to a more semi-formal event by styling it without the vest and belt and opted for a dressier or sparkly shoe. I would actually wear it to a wedding but some people would be offended because “tradition” says that only the bride can wear white. But I’m more untraditional so I think it’s ok. In my opinion, no matter what someone wears, they can never look prettier than a bride on her special day. That’s why I’m a big fan of the non-traditional weddings we’re seeing where everyone in the bridal party wears white. That’s one confident bride! She knows it’s all about her nobody what anybody else is wearing! Well, until the next time, thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Saturday: I wore this to run out and do errands. It was rather warm so I took advantage and opted for lighter fabrics. Also busted out some gladiators for the 1st time this season. The gauchos/culottes are supposed to be more of a dressier piece but I styled them more casually with this muscle tee. I had to buy this tee when I came across it cause the #22 is my hubby and my oldest son’s old football number. Hubby liked that especially because of  the stars on the shoulders (yeah, a die-hard Cowboys fan). But anyway, I thought the choker with the “velvet” strap just tied in with the look. And the hat too. My hair was flat enough to accommodate the hair this time. Gotta go for now. I got another post to do. God Bless!
