30 Nov

A casual look for a day of running errands on this Black Friday (very limited shopping later in the evening). This weather has been perfect the last few days! Whenever I get a 65+ degree day this time of year on the East Coast, I am beyond thrilled! So, to take advantage of those temps I went with this sleeveless tunic sweater. I styled it with a casual, comfy pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and these leopard print slip-on sneakers to add a bit of interest. Did you do any Black Friday shopping? God Bless!

1st in Flight

27 Nov

IMG_1144IMG_1167IMG_1161IMG_1151IMG_1169As a lover of a jumpsuit/onesie or any piece that is an all-in-one, this “flight suit” was a must-have. Yes, it does look like something worn by a pilot who is about to take flight, but I like it! It gives off the vibe of a World War I or WWII pilot ready for battle. I couldn’t help but imagine the great Amelia Earhart, the 1st female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. I think it was the neck scarf that really did it. It’s a casual piece that’s a bit masculine but the heels give it a feminine touch. Well, thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day! God Bless!

Uniform

25 Nov

IMG_1122IMG_1119IMG_1114IMG_1120A basic Fall uniform, jeans and boots. Not much to say but I threw on this leather jacket to complete the look. And, oh yeah, a wide brim hat of course. As you may or may not know, I am a huge hat fan and I you will rarely see me without one when my hair is straightened. Until the next time, God Bless!

Overalls. They can be dressed up or dressed down. They look good on every body type. They are super comfy. This pair is good change from the traditional denim, white denim. I styled them with this shirtdress worn as a shirt and these bright turquoise lace-up heels. And yes, I do wear white after labor and so can you. Just watch the weight of the fabric. White linen, that’s a no-no! Thanks for stopping by. God Bless!

Me and My Baby

Sharing this outfit post with my Baby. Wide leg pants are trending right now so I decided to dig these oldies but goodies out of the archives. Several years ago I had a thing for wide legs. All different kinds. Bell bottoms, flares, straight, you name it, I have them. And in several different fabrics. This pair is more of a trouser cut. The thing with wide leg pants is that they are mostly made to be very long in length. Now that’s ok for someone like make who has the height to carry them (with a heel of course), but could be a problem some others. I’ve even seen some girls wearing them so long that they drag the ground, ugh. I think of might have done that one time or two but not purposely. It was just a last minute outfit decision and I didn’t realize the pants were so long and by then it was too late! But in my opinion I think you should take them to a tailor and have them altered to fit. When you do, take along a pair of shoes with the heel height that you will be wearing with the pants so that the length can be adjusted appropriately. Fit can make or break an outfit and it’s always better to have properly fitted clothing even if you need to spend a little extra on alterations. As for Javar’s outfit, this is one of the rare occasions when he isn’t in athletic wear. For the last few years he has gained this aversion for jeans or anything that isn’t athletic (ie; sweatpants/track pants). So wearing these khaki trousers is “getting dressed” to him. Of course I am always trying to “pressure” him into wearing jeans and a shirt/sweater or something else besides sweats. But I am slowly beginning to throw in the towel on that one. Anyway, hope you had a great weekend. God Bless!

The dress over pants look. Some people like, some people don’t. As you can see, I’m one of the ones who do. When your dress is a bit too short to wear in certain situations, throw on a pair of pants underneath. It also works with this look because these faux leather pants have a laser cut design from the top to the bottom with only a small bit of lining that hit me above mid thigh. As much as I don’t like wearing an all black ensemble, this last minute look was ok. Other than the boredom I feel in all black, it doesn’t photograph very well unless the lighting is perfect. So that laser cut detail I mentioned in the pants, just cannot be made out well in these photos. What do you think of all black outfits? Until the next time, God Bless!

Dress: F21 (brand new but old)

Marooned

I’m not quite sure what to call this color, but depending on who is describing it, it can be called a few different things. The old school term is maroon. I might also call it burgundy. Someone else might call it wine or oxblood. But whatever you want to call it, it’s a rich-looking, warm, Fall shade that somehow becomes like a neutral to me. That’s what I had in mind when I purchased these suede booties a few years ago. I didn’t look at them and think, “what do I already own that matches them”. But instead I knew I would wear them like they were a neutral like black or brown. So, what do you call this color? God Bless!
