It’s Been A Long Time

7 Apr

I apologize for my absence but uploading pics from my Canon DSLR to my laptop is very daunting and I just fell off. Not completely because I still post on Instagram. Hence the reason forthese mirror pics. I am actually testing out uploading pics from my phone. So if you don’t already, follow me on the Gram for outfit posts and other things. I’m still gonna go back and post some looks that are on my Canon though so stay tuned. Thanks for your patience and following! God Bless!

Animal Instincts

Love the richness of a burgundy/wine color! It pops well against this animal print skirt. Wanted to dress the skirt down by styling it with this tee and platform sneakers. These sneakers are the same the ones I posted here with the stars. I initially purchased tan ones like these but with the stars. I never wore them so I returned them when I got back from Chicago after purchasing these and the white ones with the stars for both pair for less than the one other pair. Steve Madden was having a great sale! Well, thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Just another dress and sneakers combo! I love a granny dress and styling them with sneakers just feels right to me! As I said in my previous post, this hair is the after to that post’s before. Until the next time, God Bless!

Minus the VPL, this outfit comes off rockstar-ish! From the Hendrix tee to the biker-style ankle booties. The slipdress I picked up at last year’s charity shopping event (CCCS). It’s that time of the year again so I’m super excited to see what I can pick up this year! I actually go this dress in black too. Thinking about styling it for the colder weather with a sweater, tights and boots. But we’ll see. Rocking my afro after taking my braids out, on my way to go get my hair cut. The after to this before pic you will see in the next blog post. God Bless!

P.S.: Just noticed that me and Jimmy have the same hairstyle!

Getting some last minute wear out of my Summer pieces before the weather changes. Love a boot with a dress so mixing seasons is appropriate to me and a way to transition into the next season. The sock boot is a current trend. For those of you who don’t know. It’s when the shaft of the boot is made of a material that gives the boot a more fitted look as if you’re wearing a pair of socks. You will see more of me rocking this style in upcoming posts. Go get yourself a pair! I think they’re a trendy piece that you can/will still wear even after the ‘trend’ is no longer around. God Bless!

Ok, so I bought this dress in another color/pattern that I wore here. This time I styled it with these very outdoorsy and not-so-stylish sandals. I say “not-so-stylish”  because they aren’t the typical sandal that one might wear with a dress. I would expect to see some outdoorsy person sporting these with a pair of cargo shorts and a bucket hat. I know that sounds stereotypical but that’s what I imagine. So why did I purchase them if I wasn’t planning any outside activities while wearing them? Because I like the idea of styling them unexpectedly and they are super comfy! Do you style your outfits according to what the masses would say is the “right” way? Or do you go outside of the box? God Bless!

This is one of the vintage pieces that I picked up in Chicago. I like to hit up the thrift stores and go vintage shopping whenever I visit a different city. I do my research online before I get there so that I have a well executed plan as to where to go, store hours and the best way to get there. Wicker Park was the neighborhood. They had several stores up and down the street. I spent my time going in and out of stores (while the hubby patiently waited). He knows that’s my thing when we travel! It’s also where I picked up this awesome Stella McCartney look-a-likes from Steve Madden. I think they are too trendy and not worth the hundreds of dollars asked for by the designer ones. But that’s just my opinion. Do what you like with your own money ;). Thanks for reading! God Bless!

There’s something about a dragonfly that is intriguing to me. So when I came across this longline vest with dragonfly appliques on the back, I had to have it! Styled it with loose fitting pair of culottes to give it a sophisticated but relaxed look. Later may style it with a pair of jeans for a different look. God Bless!

Potato Sack

24 Oct

Yes, I do believe they literally took potato sacks to make this dress! It reminded me of the ‘I Love Lucy’ episode where Lucy and Ethel wanted a designer original dress and Ricky and Fred got the ladies dresses made from potato sacks as a joke. Anyway, here I am in a potato sack! Until the next time, God Bless!

I am in love with this piece! I didn’t exactly know what it was while hanging on the rack but I knew it was something that I wanted! I love that it has two different textures, one pretty smooth and the other a bit rough. The rough side is what I preferred but that was the side that had the label designating that it is the “wrong side/inside” of the garment. So guess what, that’s the side I wore it on any way! And the sneakers! What can I say? I know they are not a lot of people’s style but I love them and they are my “personal style”. Anyway, thanks for stopping by! God Bless!
