Wasn’t quite sure what footwear I wanted to wear. I thought I wanted a pop of color since the look was neutral. But then finally decided to go with the black fringe bootie. The emoji purse I picked up several months ago. I liked that it’s quirky and will make any outfit a bit more fun and not so serious. Overall, I would say this look is a little bit boho and a little bit rock-n-roll. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Not of This World

Sunday: I wanted to get another wear out of this skirt that I wore once last year. I love the length of this maxi! It’s just the right length for me to wear a shoe with a little height without having to go sky high. So my black flatforms, like the brown ones that I wore in the previous post, were perfect. This skirt could either go dressy or casual. I chose to mix it up and go casual by pairing it with a message tee (“Team Jesus”). I love what this brand of t-shirt (and other items) stands for. Not of this World, All about Jesus (An identity set apart to Save and Empower Lives). As Labor Day has now passed, will you still wear white? I probably will. Fashion Rule Breaker! Thanks for reading! God Bless!

Sunday: I decided that I better start getting some wear out of my “exclusively Winter” clothing. Meaning, anything that should only be worn during the Winter months and cannot really transition to Spring or Summer. That would be any wool, cashmere, heavy knits, corduroy or heavy leathers, like this skirt. Anything else can pretty much be worn in the Spring or Summer (I’m speaking in terms of the East Coast seasons). So I thought I would wear this vintage leather that I thrifted probably well over a year or so ago. Thrifting is a great way to find some good leather pieces without spending an arm and a leg on them. The only downfall about thrifting them is sometimes it may cost you more to have them cleaned then what you paid for it. Reason being because most dry cleaners don’t clean leather, you have to go to one that specifically cleans leathers and suedes. But if you love the piece, it’s definitely worth the investment because it will last you forever and leather is always timeless. Anyway, I wanted to make the outfit more relaxed so I paired the skirt with this knit sweater. Along with the booties (which I realized I had never worn until now-I just forget until an outfit option comes to mind), it just makes the whole ensemble more casual. You could also dress it up with a blouse and pumps and wear it to the office. That’s what’s so great about owning a leather skirt, it’s versatile. Sidebar: the wind was ridiculous today! At times we even had some flurries coming down. Ugg, I’m so tired of Winter! So looking forward to Spring. Hope you all had a great weekend. Thanks for visiting! God Bless! P.S.: Extra 50% off sale items @ Forever 21. Most stores are doing an extra % off sale items. Get those pieces that you passed up @ regular price and/or just get some pieces to build your wardrobe for next Fall/Winter.

Saturday: Another hat day! I think this may be the 1st time I’ve had a chance to wear this vintage hat I picked up some time ago but don’t remember where from. Anyways, I thought it would work well with these mint cords and black oversized sweater. I added the leopard print booties to make the outfit a bit more interesting. I love how a great shoe can make the most basic outfit a little more special and interesting. Hope you had a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Thursday: I wore this to run errands. The temps have really taking a big dip on the East Coast now. We’re talking about the highs only in the 30s. I know, I always complain about cold weather, so what:) So to solve or at least be comfortable in such frigid temps, just layer up! Another animal motif sweater. This fox is one of the three that I bought a few weeks back. I wore the owl one here. And you are sure to see the other one in the upcoming weeks. This time I decided to wear it more casual with jeans. I layered the plaid button down on top to give it a different look (but also for warmth). The booties I pulled out from the back of the closet. I believe the 1st and only time I’ve ever worn them was a couple of years ago the night of my friend’s wedding rehearsal. No reason for the lack of wear bc they are super comfy! And to top it all off (literally) a hat that I last wore here. And that’s all folks! How do you manage this cold weather? Or if you don’t get this type of cold, don’t you miss being able to dress this way, layered up? Anyway, have a great weekend! God Bless!

Deep Plum and High Tops

28 Dec

Friday: Yes, I am wearing sneakers today! A no-heel type of day due to plans to hand out with my sis and the nephews. Didn’t know exactly what we were gonna do so I decided to just go with the sneaks. The sweatshirt is the high/low sweatshirt done by Proenza Schouler for the Target/Neiman Marcus collabo. If you don’t know, Neiman Marcus and Target collaborated on some limited edition designer pieces that are being sold at Target. They range from everything from clothing to housewears to bicycles, etc. As far as the clothing goes, this is the only piece that caught my eye. The artwork on the sweatshirt isn’t anything to marvelous but since I have a slight obsession for sweatshirts right now, I had to have it. But not at its regular price, it was actually 50% off at this time so it became more attractive to me. The deep plum pants were a good compliment to the colors in the shirt. Plus since the sw is more oversized, the skinny jean balances it out. And of course I had to pull out my fitted which I can usually no longer wear with my thick natural hair but also just goes with the laid back vibe of outfit. Anyways, had a great day. We went bowling and I won both games! Which didn’t make my nephew AJ too happy. He’s very competition and is one of those types of males who don’t like losing, especially getting beat by a girl! Have a great weekend and be safe (we’re supposed to get 2-4 in of snow here in the Northeast)! God Bless!

A Reindeer and a Leopard

23 Dec

IMG_5032 IMG_5036IMG_5045IMG_5047

Sunday: So you know how I’m loving a graphic tee or sweatshirt nowadays and this one was no exception. There is a running theme this time of year about the “ugly Christmas sweater’. Well, this Christmas themed sweatshirt does not fit into that category (well to me anyway). I think it’s rather cool! How could you resist this reindeer looking dope in his sunnies. I couldn’t so that’s why I bought him home with me. I do understand that it could’ve gone wrong so I knew I had to style him up. Not the traditional Christmas red, I chose to wear this brick red coated jeans. I wanted to keep the proportions in check so since the sweatshirt is oversized and slim skinnies balance it out. And just to end a little touch of chic, I thought the leopard booties was a good touch. So what do you think? Do you or would you wear a holiday sweater? Well, one more shopping day left. Hope you enjoy your families and remember Jesus is the reason for the season. Without him, there would be no “CHRIST”-mas. So while your enjoying your festivities, honor the one who this day represents. God Bless!
