Hat to the Back

Ok, if you don’t already own a pair of Mom jeans I suggest you go out and get a pair! They are so versatile. Just like any other pair of jeans you can dress them up with heels or dress them down with sneakers or a casual boot. I know you’re probably thinking, “Who wants to wear a pair of jeans that don’t flatter your figure?”. Yes, I partially agree with that. They do flatten your booty so if you are lacking a bit in the back, they make it look even flatter. I don’t care about that but some of you may. I like that they give a whole different look then a pair of skinny, boyfriend, straight leg or even flared jeans. I guess because I have a thing with pieces from decades past, I adore them! The plus side to Mom jeans is that they make your waist look smaller due to the higher rise! Now tell me who doesn’t want the illusion of a smaller waist! Oh yeah, this is another pair of sneakers that I’ve added to my closet. You can never go wrong with an all white sneak. It’s just that they are very rare nowadays. Every pair has some color incorporated but I prefer an all white pair too. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Fascinated

19 May

This is what I wore to a Mother’s Day Luncheon. They asked everyone to wear a hat and they would have a Best Hat contest. Instead of going for a fancy hat and having to style my hair to accommodate it, I thought a fascinator was the way to go. As far as the outfit goes, I’ve had my eye on these style of pants with the skirt attached, ever since I seen them worn on the red carpet. I hadn’t seen them in the stores I frequent but came across them a few months ago when the saleswoman bought them to me after seeing “my style” through the other pieces I had picked out. I had no idea when and where I was going to wear them but knew they belonged in my closet. So when this event came up, I knew I was going to wear them (but only after it was cold and rainy and I didn’t want to wear the maxi skirt that I was prepared to wear).  Later for now! God Bless!

Birds Of A Feather

Sunday: I’ve had these shoes for a while now but wanted to style them with another black and white pattern piece. So amongst the many black and white pieces that I own, this draped bird blouse won out. Mixed the dressiness of the blouse and heels with these pair of higher waist cropped jeans that are super old (almost vintage). And of course a derby topper to complete the look. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Muscle Tees and Polka Dots

22 Jun

IMG_7887 IMG_7897 IMG_7898 IMG_7895 IMG_7891

Saturday: An easy, cool Summer look. Two lightweight pieces to ward off the rising mercury. Just an ordinary muscle tee that I paired with this polka dot midi skirt. I found the skirt during a recent thrifting trip. Skirts are my top find when I go thrifting. I love a vintage skirt and they seem to be in abundance more than anything thing else at the thrift store. Most of them have a bigger size than what I usually where but “back in the day”, sizing wasn’t an issue so they weren’t afraid to label with a bigger size. I say all this to say, don’t always go by the size on the label. Look at the garment and if it looks like you can fit it, by all means try it on. This works for me the majority of the time. I can usually fit it. And plus, I don’t usually wear pieces that fit me snugly. I like to have some room and prefer a more loose fit of my garments, most of the time. Until next time, God Bless!

Summer Staple Piece

21 Jun

IMG_7833 IMG_7842 IMG_7857 IMG_7846 IMG_7844 IMG_7862 IMG_7835 IMG_7851

Friday: Denim cutoffs are always a go-to when it comes to easy Summer dressing! Definitely a Summer staple piece. Instead of one of my usual pairs of blue denim cutoffs I went with this white pair. I paired them with a simple tank top but styled them with this printed kimono to add a bit more interest and coverage in case I get a little chilly once night falls.  And since I was going to an outdoor festival, I wore these ankle boots instead of sandals because I didn’t want grass touching my feet (don’t judge me, lol) and also wanted to protect my feet from the crowds that I may come in contact with. Plus, I just like the look of a boot, whether ankle, knee or calf height, with shorts and dreses! And of course, I’m always excited when I can wear a hat that fits over my hair! What are your Summer go-to pieces? God Bless!
