Orange is the New Black

I am a fan of neutral colors, especially with a pop of color! Olive green is one of those colors that I believe looks great with almost any color. I styled this ordinary skirt and sweater look with the long-line vest to not only add a pop of color but to also add some visual interest with portions. My accessory of choice, a neck scarf. Definitely one of my favorite ways to accessory whether it’s worn around the neck, on the wrist or on my head. Pulled out these old suede and patent booties because I like how brown looks with the other colors. Hope you have a great weekend! God Bless!

Sweater: Thrifted-Men’s Department (initially was going to use it for my DIY Ugly Christmas Sweater but opted for the cardigan instead)

I’m loving this hunter green mid skirt. It’s a faux leather and can be worn higher up on the waist, like I’m doing or you can slouch it lower to sit on the hips. I styled it to in a more school girl/70’s style way with this classic button down shirt. The bike print makes it a bit more quirky, which I love. And these platform ankle boots makes the look more modern. Plus, I like the contrast of the honey-colored booties with the green. Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Fringe Benefits

Fringe is one of the big trends for this season. I decided to style this faux leather fringe skirt with a casual t-shirt and a baseball cap. The fur puff ball detail on the hat makes it more fun and quirky than a plain cap.The tee is representing my hometown and the big event that we all looked forward to every year, The Woodbury Relays. It’s still being done every Spring in April and this year was the 43rd Annual Woodbury Relays. Have you tried any of the trends for this season yet? Until the next, God Bless!

Sunday: I always loved a midi skirt. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term “midi skirt” it’s a skirt that ends anywhere from just below the knee to a few inches above the ankle. Sometimes this length is also referred to as “tea length”. It’s a style that’s in between the mini skirt (above the knee/mid thigh) and the maxi skirt (almost floor sweeping). Midi skirts can come in the full style, as I am wearing, but also can be a pencil skirt, a “wiggle skirt” or straight style. This length is ideal for chilly days when you’re still delaying the need to wear tights (guilty!) but it comes down over your legs far enough so that you are still pretty comfortably warm. It’s also perfect for early Spring when the temps aren’t quite so warm yet. I chose to style it with this thin knit to make it more casual but also keep a slight retro feel by wearing these pointy toe pumps. If you’re ready for tights or not, knee high boots also work well with this style. Or maybe an ankle boot. Just have fun and style it the way you see best. Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Causing Some Ruckus

Sunday: I love a full skirt. This one is leather-like without being to heavy weight. It’s actually quit lightweight and could be worn throughout the warmer weather but also with tights during the colder months. Nothing new with this combo of a more dressy piece, the skirt, with a more casual piece, a tee shirt. I particularly liked this tee not because of  being a fan of Wu-Tang but because of the large numbers that gives it more of a sports jersey feel. The shoes, I bought back when it was still quite cold out but the stores started putting out the Spring pieces. I like to shop when the true seasonal weather hasn’t kicked in yet. I feel like I need to snatch up those pieces that catch my eye at that time because they may not be there once everyone else begins to shop (like now that the weather has finally broken, as they say!). Anyways, I knew these shoes would give the whole ensemble the look I was going for. Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for reading! God Bless!

Sunday: So I thought I was gonna get some outside photos today since it was so nice but the wind was just too much! I almost had a Marilyn Monroe moment and that’s not a good look! So, back in the house it is. As for the outfit, I went for a mixture of colder weather and warmer weather pieces. The faux leather skirt can be worn right now with tights (as I am doing) or once it gets a little warmer, can be worn barelegged. It is lined so I probably won’t wear it once it gets too warm. Plus for church, I thought it was more appropriate to wear with tights and OTK (over-the-knee) boots to have more coverage and less leg exposed. The plaid shirt makes the look more casual along with the flat with the flat boots. And my obsession for glasses continues! I found these old school inspired frames that I love so I had to style them with my look today. Hope you had a great weekend! Yay for Daylight Savings time! Longer days, more daylight and I didn’t even miss that hour that we lost! Spring is getting closer! God Bless!
