In Concert

Friday: An easy, simple outfit for a night out to attend a concert (Chrisette Michele, Jagged Edge and Raheem DeVaughn). I didn’t want to be too dressy so I opted for a pair of shorts that can easily be dressed up with heels, as I did, or dressed down with a pair of flat sandals. The top is quite old and doesn’t get any wear so I decided to pull it out tonight to wear with the shorts. And just these gladiator heels that you’ve seen in this post. I thought they would be good to wear with shorts again since I haven’t styled them with a dress or skirt yet. That’s going to be interesting being as though the straps come up pretty high on my legs which means the skirt/dress would need to hit at the right spot in order for the proportions to be right without looking too risque (for me). But we’ll see when that opportunity presents itself. Anyways, that’s all about the ‘fit. Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

On the Fringe

Friday: I wore this simple ensemble to go to Javar’s B-ball game. Nothing like a pair of distressed denim jeans that literally goes with everything! The fringed sweater I picked up during the additional 50% sale items. I liked the fringes hanging from the sweater. I reminds of something Isabel Marant would do. Nothing else to say about this outfit. Thanks for reading! God Bless!

You Look So Much Better When You Smile

Friday: Giving these overalls another spin since last wearing them here. But styled them up for these chilly Autumn temps. Since I had to go to Javar’s night game, I decided to layer really well. I also thought I would wear them the way we used to rock them back in the day with one strap up and one strap down. Partly for style and partly to reveal the “Smile” sweater. The whole ensemble worked out quite well at the game, especially with the edition of a pair of tights underneath. The only thing that I would change would have been to change out these GI-normous metal earrings that became ice cold while sitting out in the frigid temps of the night, lol. Well, all for now. Thanks for reading. God Bless!

Sunday: So I’m in flats once again. One of my fellow heel-loving sisters at church asked me “what was I doing down there”. To which I rebutted that I regretfully have to wear flats for a while due to my surgery I had a week ago. Yeah, I’m still a little sore and although I did try on some heels to see how they felt, they are just not going to work for me right now! And I don’t have any idea when I will feel comfortable enough to get back into them. So it will be flats for now. Even closed toe flats aren’t very comfortable. Thank God that I had it done during the Summer when I am able to wear open toe shoes cause that would not have been a good look in the Winter. So it is definitely a challenge getting dressed knowing that I have to wear flats. The majority of the outfits that I put together go better with heels. But now I have to be more creative to include flats and still feel polished and put-together while doing it. No matter what I wear, wearing flat shoes with it just always makes me feel more dressed down. I’m uninspired when I have to wear flats. I guess it’s just because I don’t have many options. Not that I don’t have enough flats to choose from but just that even though I own several different styles of flat sandals, they are all the same (or shall I say they all give the same look to an outfit). Just saying! Anyways, this skirt is another cast off from the Duro Olowu x JC Penny collection. I love the length and the bright colors. I dressed it down with the t-shirt. I like how the colors in the tee pick up the colors from the skirt. When I did my hair like this today, I realized that I was rocking the look of Ola Ray from the Michael Jackson “Thriller” video. I know y’all remember her. I loved the style of her Jheri curl. Yeah, I had a Jheri curl! And what? I was always one to follow the trends and the curl was one of them! Check out this video tribute to Michael that Ola did. She looks great at 52 yrs old but I don’t know how her mental is!! What do you think? God Bless!

Spring Blooms

Saturday: I wore this to go out and do some errands while enjoying a beautiful Spring day. It was quite warm but still a little too chilly for exposed arms so I threw on the tissue thin cardi. The shoes are a little more on the dressy side but you know how I like mixing it up with dressy and something more casual such as the distressed jeans. I found these shoes a few months ago and had to have them. They remind me so much of the Valentino’s ‘Rockstud T-Strap Pump’, that I want but are out of the price range that I wish to spend. So these will just have to do. It’s hard to tell from the photos but they are a navy/black snake print/texture with a low kitten-like heel that is so on trend right now. I thought about adding (DIY) some studs like the Valentino’s but changed my mind and wanted to keep that as already are. They are so comfy! I wish I could find them in other colors because you know I would purchase them (part of my multiples habit, lol). I hope you enjoyed our nice weekend weather. God Bless!

All That Glitters

Saturday: Since these trousers are a bit shiny and could be considered more of a dressy piece, I decided to dress them down. I like the graphic neckline of this sweater that’s what attracted me to it. And since the sweater doesn’t really “go with” the trousers, I thought that I would pair them together. I like that the sweater is so casual and the trousers are not. I also added the heeled desert booties to stay within the casual flow. With pieces like these, you can make several outfits out of them. That’s how you get plenty of wear and your monies worth out of pieces. So don’t be afraid to spend a little more on something you really love because most likely it can be worn with several different pieces to create other outfits. These pieces were inexpensive but I could get a few different outfits from them anyways. The sweater could be worn with a pair of jeans, skinny, boyfriend or any other style. It could also be paired with a pencil skirt or some other type of trousers. The trousers can be worn with a tee and a blazer, a button down shirt, a blouse and completed with a blazer/jacket. Footwear  could be a pair of pointy toe pumps, a heeled sandal, a wedge, a tie up oxford or any other type of heels. The options are endless! Thanks for reading. God Bless!
