Animal Instincts

31 Oct

Love the richness of a burgundy/wine color! It pops well against this animal print skirt. Wanted to dress the skirt down by styling it with this tee and platform sneakers. These sneakers are the same the ones I posted here with the stars. I initially purchased tan ones like these but with the stars. I never wore them so I returned them when I got back from Chicago after purchasing these and the white ones with the stars for both pair for less than the one other pair. Steve Madden was having a great sale! Well, thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Tee: Arizona (JCP)

Skirt: Buffalo by David Bitton (JCP) (I probably got that name wrong but you can find that brand at JCP)

Is It a Shoe or Is It a Boot?

18 Oct

IMG_0075 IMG_0090 IMG_0095

That’s the million dollar question. On one hand it’s shoe because the part that covers the foot, is a shoe. On the other hand it’s a boot because they go up the leg to the knee. In the past I’ve seen them called gladiator boots but because the shoe portion doesn’t resemble a gladiator sandal, I wouldn’t call them that. But whatever “they” call them, I love them! They have that edge that I like. I styled them with a rather simple outfit so that they are the main focus but I think they would look great with a short skirt or shorts too. Well, it’s time to hibernate them for the Winter so we’ll see what I do with them when the temps go back up again in Spring/Summer. God Bless!

Sunday: Have I ever mentioned how much I love a turban! They used to be attributed to old lady wear but over the last few years they have become a chic accessory. Well, I and a few others think they are chic. Many of you may still consider them an older lady piece of head wear. But anyway, I adore a turban! Or just about any type of head wear for that matter. So when I came across this patterned black and white number, I had to purchase it! All of my other turbans are solid colors so I was really excited to find this one along with a few other patterned ones that will one day appear here on the blog. Since I wanted to wear this one today I decided to build my outfit around it. Meaning that all solid black and white would be the look of the day. I’m not going to explain much else about this look except for the fur heels. Yes, the fur is actually attached to the shoe! I have a set of fur “ankle warmers” that I had bought many years ago but never felt inspired to wear them. So when I came across these I thought why not give them a go. I would have much rather worn them with bare legs but that was not an option for this skirt due to the high slit (not for church). Maybe the next time with bare legs so that there is better contrast between my skin the fur. Oh, and after the photos I ditched the necklace because I thought it was too much. Yes, I said too much! Not often coming from me but I like the look without it after seeing it in the pics. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas! God Bless!

The Secretary and the Cheetah

Sunday: Nothing like a pop of color when wearing an animal print! I could have easily worn a bright pink, yellow, orange,  or other bright color blouse/top with this cheetah print skirt, but instead I opted for this red, tie neck  sheer blouse. The tie neck gives the look a retro secretary feel but the ankle booties makes it more modern. Thanks for reading! Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Big Bang

Sunday: Trying to get the last wear out my warm weather clothing before the weather really changes (tomorrow night is the 1st day of Fall/Autumn). The tee I thought was interesting and quirky. I am not a fan of the Big Bang Theory tv show. Michelle and others rave about how funny it is but I just couldn’t get into it, the couple of times I tried watching. I’m gonna try to give it another chance since the new season starts tomorrow. Are any of you fans of the show? The inspiration for wearing this color nail polish came from watching E! Channel celebrating Joan Rivers. She was wearing a similar color in one of the highlights of the Fashion Police that they showed. She was soooo hilarious and I am going to miss her so much on the Fashion Police. Her jokes was ridiculous! Although I will always watch and be a fan of the show it just won’t be the same without her! They are in hiatus right now but will resume in January 2015. R.I.P. Joan! God Bless!

Sunday: This is outfit mash up today. I call it a mash up because it has pieces that are casual and pieces that are dressy. As I’ve said before, I like wearing unexpected pieces together. Now the average person probably wouldn’t put this lace skirt with a t-shirt at all, let alone this graphic character tee. And then have on a heel too! But that’s me and my sense of personal style. It’s not for everybody but it’s how I love to dress and express myself thru clothes/fashion. Everybody’s not going to like everything someone else wears but the key to pulling off your own personal style is to not worry about what others think and just do what makes you feel good! That’s my style advice for the day. I know you didn’t ask for it but there you have it, lol! Hope you are enjoying this long Labor Day weekend! God Bless!

Better late then never! These photos were taken last weekend when we attended Gospel in the Park at Penns’ Landing. It turned out to be a drizzly, rainy mess of day. I watched as my fresh twist out (natural hair style) gradually transformed due to the rain and the humidity. But that’s cool, I like big messy hair and don’t have to worry about hiding from the weather. Anyway, back to the outfit. The skirt is super old, I actually have another one that’s navy and white striped that I wore before but I just “found” this again. I’ve been trying to shop “my closet” lately and wearing pieces that still have tags. The graphic tee and flats just makes it more casual. That’s all for now. I have another post to do. God Bless!
