Prep School Girl

This plaid dress is definitely a take on a school uniform. The top navy and green portion is reminiscent of that. But then the twist in changing up the plaid color non-traditional plaid is what attracted me to this piece! I also love the draping detail that is carried from the front of the garment to the back of the garment. So, in sticking with the school uniform look I decided to run with it. Hence the white shirt with the bow and the booties with the flap just makes me think of a shoe that you’d where with a uniform. So what do you think? Am I ready for school, lol? Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Shine Bright

Styled one of my favorites, the bodysuit, with these cropped jeans and kimono wrap jacket. The jacket I picked up last year while shopping in Vegas. Because of its shimmer, it could come off a bit garish so I toned it down with denim. The same goes for the shiny bodysuit. I would consider this to be a transition out. Transitioning your Summer pieces to wear in the Fall when the weather is still a bit warm. Well, until the next time, God Bless!

I had the beach in mind when I purchased this outfit. I imagined walking down the boardwalk on a cool Summer’s night rocking this ‘fit. It’s very easy-breezy and comfortable! Well, instead I wore it to run around town. Maybe I’ll still pack it for the beach when I go. Seeing one of my patients in her Tory flat sandals made me remember that I also owned a couple of pairs. I purchased these Tory Burch ‘Miller’ sandals over 5 years ago, worn them maybe 2x and had completely forgotten about them hiding in the back of my closet. I believe the last time I wore them was one I hurt my toe and couldn’t wear heels. Anyway, until the next time, God Bless!

Sueded

24 Apr

Put this outfit together during one of the cooler days. I always try to get the last wear out of my Winter/Colder months clothes before the weather changes. I’ve been holding onto this faux fur piece all Winter and thought this was the picture day to pull it out. The same goes for this suede, tie neck blouse that I stalked until they put it on the clearance rack. I decided to leave the ties hanging instead of making a bow as you normally would with a tie neck blouse. I love how the teal looks with the chocolate browns, tans, and creams. Later for now! God Bless!

Sunday: A little pattern mixing is always a fun styling option. When and if you decide to try mixing patterns, the key is to keep in the same color families. The colors in both patterns should compliment eachother. I guess this isn’t the right oufit to try to explain that being as though my pattern mixing only consists of two colors. You can search Google for a few examples to show you how this trend looks in color. It might feel a little weird, at first, but give it a try. You’ll know if the combination works or not. Go with your gut on this trend. Others may not understand your look but if you’re comfortable and happy with the way it turns out, who cares what others think! Oh yeah, almost forgot about the cape. I rediscovered it while browsing thru my coat closet. Turns out a already had a couple of capes/cape coats that I totally forgot about. See, it does pay to shop your closet intead of shopping the stores (sometimes). Old hidden treasures are like new again! God Bless!

Saturday: All denim is still a no-brainer outfit that works. There’s no real thought provoking styling that needs to be done when you wear a denim shirt with denim bottoms. The key is not to try to make the denims match. Contrasting the denim works better and looks better. It’s just an effortlessly stylish look. I decided to throw on this long cardi sweater to punch it up a little and add some color. It also served as another warm layer to combat the cold temps. I styled the belt with this look because I thought it went with the rest of the ensemble, giving me a cool, Western vibe. Ok, that’s it for now. Got one more post to do. God Bless!

Sunday: Trying to get the last wear out my warm weather clothing before the weather really changes (tomorrow night is the 1st day of Fall/Autumn). The tee I thought was interesting and quirky. I am not a fan of the Big Bang Theory tv show. Michelle and others rave about how funny it is but I just couldn’t get into it, the couple of times I tried watching. I’m gonna try to give it another chance since the new season starts tomorrow. Are any of you fans of the show? The inspiration for wearing this color nail polish came from watching E! Channel celebrating Joan Rivers. She was wearing a similar color in one of the highlights of the Fashion Police that they showed. She was soooo hilarious and I am going to miss her so much on the Fashion Police. Her jokes was ridiculous! Although I will always watch and be a fan of the show it just won’t be the same without her! They are in hiatus right now but will resume in January 2015. R.I.P. Joan! God Bless!

Sunday: Yeah I’m wearing white after Labor Day, again! And? I know that’s an old “rule” but like I always say, there’s no rules in fashion! Even though there’s no rules, keep this in mind. When wearing white after Labor Day (during the cooler months), always make sure that the fabric is appropriate. Meaning, you can wear white but just make sure it is a heavier fabric. Don’t wear white linen! It just looks so wrong! A heavier cotton, brocade, poly, twill, wool, denim, etc., will work better. Anyway, I saw this skirt months ago and wanted to buy it but it wasn’t on sale yet. Even though I wanted it, it was that kind of “want” where I was willing to pay full price. Plus I knew it would go on sale soon enough. Fast forward to now, I actually had forgotten about said skirt until I was perusing the clearance racks and came upon it. Not only was it the only one in my size but there was the only black one in my size too. I don’t need to say anything further about it as you see me wearing it and you will see the black one in an upcoming post. Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Sunday: Palazzos and camo is today’s theme. The pants I found while out on a shopping trip with my mom. Kohl’s is her favorite spot. It’s usually not on my usual shopping route but you know me, I can find something at any store, lol. So while browsing the clearance racks, I came across these sheer palazzo pants. I remember having a similar pair about 20 years ago (o.k. I’m showing my age, ha ha!) but those were slightly different because they weren’t lined like these and me being a young fashionista wasn’t aware that as I danced under the lights at a party, you could see straight thru them, eek! Now being more seasoned in fashion, I know to look for things like that! Anywho, didn’t want them to go too dressy so my good ole’ camo tee  downplayed them some. I also like that depending on the angle and positioning, they actually look like a maxi skirt. Oh yeah, my lil gold loafer heels have been in hibernation for the last 3-4 yrs. I forgot about them until now and I know why. Because of my freakishly narrow heels, the flip a little when I walk. Thank God I didn’t have to walk too far or too long and I was able to keep my feet in them. Those shoes are not  made for walking, lol! Ok, I’m out for now. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week! God Bless!

Sunday: The weather has been cooperating a bit so I decided to go barelegged today. I’m wearing a wool skirt that has silver metallic yarns woven into the fabric. The skirt is actually quit old. Probably well over 3-4 yrs ago I bought it and it’s just been sitting in my closet until today. It actually can go pretty conservative but I styled it with this more casual letter sweater instead. And the platform booties just adds a touch of edge to the overall all ensemble. O yeah, I finally found a new silver statement necklace that fit my expectations. Short and sweet tonight. Hope you all had a great weekend! Praying that this snow they’re calling for doesn’t hit us too bad! This has to be the last one! Spring does start later this week! God Bless!
