Potato Sack

IMG_3211IMG_3212IMG_3215IMG_3217IMG_3225

Yes, I do believe they literally took potato sacks to make this dress! It reminded me of the ‘I Love Lucy’ episode where Lucy and Ethel wanted a designer original dress and Ricky and Fred got the ladies dresses made from potato sacks as a joke. Anyway, here I am in a potato sack! Until the next time, God Bless!

I am in love with this piece! I didn’t exactly know what it was while hanging on the rack but I knew it was something that I wanted! I love that it has two different textures, one pretty smooth and the other a bit rough. The rough side is what I preferred but that was the side that had the label designating that it is the “wrong side/inside” of the garment. So guess what, that’s the side I wore it on any way! And the sneakers! What can I say? I know they are not a lot of people’s style but I love them and they are my “personal style”. Anyway, thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Denim cutoffs, a Summer staple piece! You can buy them or you can DIY them but they are definitely the go-to piece for a Summer day! They are a “trend” but not really because they have been around for decades and have and never will ever go out of style! I turn to them when I want to either be a little put-together but not want to put forth much thought and also when I just want to throw something on and go. You can style them so many ways, that’s the best part about them. And when you wear them loosely, how I like them, they are super comfy! So style them with flats, sneakers, ankle boots, knee boots, heels or whatever, and you’re good to go! Until next time, God Bless!

Friday: Today’s outfit is all about comfort. All denim is just an easy way to put together a look that doesn’t require much thought or energy. Whether you do it with cutoff shorts or jeans, with flats, heels, boots or sneakers, it just works. As I said before, the one thing that is a struggle for me with natural hair is that it is so big and thick that I am unable to wear my hats. So for the past week I have not done my usual hair routine/products in order to keep it semi-straight and flat so I can wear some hats this weekend. So today I decided to wear this snapback that I bought a few months ago. Be prepared to see me in a hat everyday this weekend and maybe beyond. If I can stand to go with my curls much longer. Hope you have a good weekend. God Bless!

Saturday: Right now I’m loving the overalls trend! I actually wore the pants version a couple of years ago and then recently I bought a more fitted pair of the pants version seen here. I was on the hunt for short overalls or another pair of pants that I could make into shorts, from thrift stores. To no avail, most likely due to them now being a trend and everybody and their momma thrifting them too. The ones in the stores are costly especially since I know that I thrifted the ones I wore here for about $5 and the stores are selling them for around $50 or more . But I had to break down and purchase these if wanted to get in on the trend and I didn’t want to cut my thrifted pair. I wanted my look to be more of a boho feel so I wore my flatforms and this peasant-y top that I’ve had for many years. I’ve worn the blush colored one once before but this is a first for this one. My headwrap just ties into the easy, effortless feel of the entire look. As you can see from this post and the previous one, I’m slowly inching (literally, lol) my way back into my heels. These aren’t bad because they keep my feet and toes on a level plane unlike the arch and pressure on the toes that heels can cause. My next step is to get back into closed toe shoes, not heels but flats. I digress! What do you think of the overalls trend? Are you in or out? Hope you had a great holiday weekend! God Bless!

Saturday: Just an easy, breezy dress kind of day. I picked this dress up from Urban Outfitters. It’s from Urban Renewal, a line that takes old pieces/vintage pieces and gives them a new life. I love idea of reusing old things and not throwing them away to be left in landfills to contribute to the demise of our environment. Plus, I like vintage clothing because most of the time it is one-of-a-kind because it is probably the only one of its kind left on this Earth and no one else will have it. I love the oversize fit of this dress how it just hangs on my body. Very comfy and very sheer in the light so I added a tank and “biker shorts” as to not expose myself. I initially planned on wearing an ankle boot but decided to go with these flatform sandals instead. Maybe I’ll do the boots another time. That’s all for now! Stop back again for my latest outfit post. God Bless!

Saturday: So we are finally having my type of weather! Now this is Summer! When we get high humidity and temps rising above 90 degrees for more than three consecutive days (heat wave!). And then you factor in the heat index and it feels like 100+ degrees, I love it! So I had to dress accordingly to be outside at a cookout. Nothing complicated and fussy. Just a tank and some cutoffs was the perfect outfit. And some flat sandals to maneuver the rough terrain of the back yard. What is your go to outfit when the temperatures began to soar? Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!
