Layer Them On

26 Jan

Sunday: I know I say this every time, but this all black thing is just not for me! But anyways, it is what it is. So I’m wearing this leather accented leggings that I’ve had for a long time now. The top is sheer but it doesn’t photograph that way. Plus, I have a black tank underneath as to not be exposed at church. I’m really loving the cutout boot trend so this is just another pair. Since the outfit is so boring I layered on a few necklaces to add some interest. Well, time to watch the Grammy’s and get ready for another work week. God Bless!

“H” is for ?

Saturday: I know, it’s snowing outside (well, it had literally just stopped like minutes ago) and about 15 degrees but I still have exposed legs in these ripped jeans. Actually I wasn’t cold at all (I was while taking these photos) because I had on my full length down coat. Anyways, I purchased this cardi during the additional 50% sale merchandise at F21. The letter “H” has no real significance I just always loved a good letterman’s sweater/jacket. They just remind me of one of my favorite fashion decades, the 50’s. As I watch “Happy Days” I am so jealous that they got to wear those letterman cardis but now I have one of my own! God Bless!

Buckles n Plaid

Sunday: It was a plaid trouser type of day for me. To make them more cozy I added this textured knit in cream to brighten things up. Not brighten as in add color, but brighten as in playing off the cream in the pants instead of the red or black. To keep the look low key I chose these flat shoes/booties instead of heels. The multi buckles is what drew me in to purchase them. I love how they remind me a little girl’s mary jane shoe but at the same time have that quirky, goth, rockabilly feel. I can’t wait til it gets warm enough to wear them with little dresses and no socks. Anyhoo, wrapping up the end of a long weekend, preparing for another work week and another round of the dreaded snow that we’ve been getting bombarded with here on the East Coast. They’re forecasting 6-10 inches starting tomorrow morning, ugg! Spring please hurry! I don’t know how much more I can take! Be safe! God Bless!

Mod in Mustard

Friday: Wore this to an appointment and date day with the hubby. It’s a modern version of the Mod 60’s mini dress. I wore the lace up boots to keep that Mod look going but added the patterned tights to make it more modern. I actually planned on wearing this little number to church but when I tried it on, it was waayy to short for church. So since I was not able to wear to church, I decided to wear for a date. I don’t know about you but sometimes a girl just wants to wear a dress for no good reason at all! Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

Sunday: Wearing a vegan leather dress today. I love the rich brownish-burgundy color. It works as a natural to me. It’s kind of trashbag-ish, sack-like but if you know me, you know I very rarely do anything bodycon so it suits my style just fine. I didn’t get a shot of the back but it has a slight peek-a-boo opening that runs vertical from the neck to the waist. Not obviously open back but just a slight hint. And of course, what girl doesn’t like a dress with pockets! The boots were a random purchase. I didn’t set out to buy them but once I saw them, I knew they were coming home with me. I know, they look like grandma’s couch and that gown Kim Kardashian wore here to the MET Gala when she was pregnant (I think it wouldn’t have been so bad if she wasn’t pregnant, just saying). But I like that they’re different and can easily add interest to any outfit. I was thinking wearing them with my all black ensembles that I have to wear on some Sundays. Now that I’m really looking at the photos, they look like something Prince would wear. Which is also fine with me. What do you think? I know they may not be everyone’s taste. But sometimes I may like something for someone else but not for myself. That doesn’t mean that I don’t like it at all. Right? Do you feel this way sometimes? Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!

So Long John

Saturday: Well, I know it’s been a while since I did an outfit post. My excuse: I enjoyed the end of the holidays (time off from work), which means that I haven’t been dressed (in anything other than scrubs and workout clothes), since New Year’s Eve. Oh how I love not having to hang around the house in my lounge wear! Yeah, I do love dressing but when I don’t have to leave the house, that’s o.k. too. Anyways, I wore this to go hang out with my sister. I just wanted to be comfy and stay as dry as possible since we were having all day heavy rain and thunderstorms. I call these pants Long Johns but they were classified as leggings by the store. Either way I like them (slouchy crotch is my fave)! I was inspired by Karen from Where did u get that blog, to give them a try. But hers were actually real Long Johns. They were the perfect weight for such a warm day we were having. As for these boots, I think this is probably only the 2nd time I’ve worn them. I believe the only other time was Christmas Day 2011 in this post. Let’s see if I can get another wear out them before the season is over. FYI: a lot of the stores are having great end of season sales right now. Some better than others, but check them out to get those pieces that will help you finish out your Winter wardrobe and add pieces for next year! God Bless!

Solid Gold

New Year’s Eve: My plans for NYE consisted of going to church and then home. I wanted to be comfortable but I also wanted to have a little bit of the “sparkle” that is usually associated with the night. I came across these gold jeans that was buried in the bottom of my closet. I believe I bought them a couple of years ago (along with a metallic copper pair), but the opportunity to wear such “flashy” pants never arose until tonight. They’re actually called “Disco” something or the other. Hence, the reason why the so remind of the old tv show, “Solid Gold”. I know those of you of a certain age remember that show! Lol! Anyways, wanted to tone it down a little so I wore darker colors and more casual pieces with them. The veiled beanie was something that Jil Sander showed on the runway last Spring. I loved the look! I actually planned on trying it back then and it fell off my radar until a fellow blogger, Monroe, from Fashion Steele NYC,  mentioned it again so I decided to give it a try. I hope you had a great NYE! God Bless!
