Simplicity

23 Oct

This dress is one of the pieces I picked up when I was in Las Vegas. It’s very basic and simple but I think that’s why I was drawn to it. To keep the look more modest, I wore the turtleneck to fill in for the deep V neckline. And since the side slits were a bit higher than I thought, I added the opaque tights and OTK boots. I actually thought it was going to be cold this morning so that’s why I wore this look. By the time I was ready to leave the house, the sun was out and it had warmed. Bummer! I would not have worn this so early in the season. I like to go bare-legged as long as possible and this would not have made the cut today if I knew it was 50 degrees. Anyway, it is what it is. Until next time, God Bless!

Kimono/Robe

Just a plain white tee and some jeans. The rest of the ensemble needed to be basic so not to compete with the boldness of the kimono. A kimono has a few functions. One being it can give you a bit of warmth if you feel a bit chilly. And another is to take an outfit of basics up a notch like I did. Kimonos can be found at any store in a variety of lengths, patterns, fabrics and styles. Give your fall wardrobe an update by trying a kimono to finish off your look. God Bless!

Mom’s the Word

The “Mom Jean”. I’m kind of obsessed with these. I agree with you, I don’t know why either. They aren’t very figure flattering. They make crotch look long, as if it’s right up under your boobs. Your but appears longer and flatter than it actually is. And God knows that some of us who don’t have much back there to begin with don’t need that kind of optical illusion, haha! But I am drawn to them, nonetheless. What’s your take on the “Mom Jean”? Do you or would you wear them?

Is It a Shoe or Is It a Boot?

That’s the million dollar question. On one hand it’s shoe because the part that covers the foot, is a shoe. On the other hand it’s a boot because they go up the leg to the knee. In the past I’ve seen them called gladiator boots but because the shoe portion doesn’t resemble a gladiator sandal, I wouldn’t call them that. But whatever “they” call them, I love them! They have that edge that I like. I styled them with a rather simple outfit so that they are the main focus but I think they would look great with a short skirt or shorts too. Well, it’s time to hibernate them for the Winter so we’ll see what I do with them when the temps go back up again in Spring/Summer. God Bless!

Jump Suiting into Fall

Sunday: A jumpsuit is one of those pieces that anyone can wear. It doesn’t matter how tall, short, thin or curvy you are. My only complaint is that most of the ones that I find are always black. Don’t get me wrong, I love a black jumpsuit. They are so versatile and can be worn to any event because they can be easily styled to be dressy or casual. But if they came in a greater assortment of colors, I would be much happier. Ok, I do have a few that aren’t black but the majority of the styles that I’m drawn to are black. Anyway, I’m wearing one of my many black jumpsuits today. The good thing is that with black, any shoe color goes well. So these animal print/animal hair mules were the obvious choice for me today. What is your thought on jumpsuits? Are you in or out? Hope you had a great weekend! God Bless!
