Psychedelic Print

Sunday: Wow, I know, another post! Third one in two days! This is a record, I think. I guess you can say I’m making up for those times that I didn’t do a regular outfit post. Anyway, a little bit of Spring, a little bit of Winter. Still sporting sweaters and turtlenecks. Styled it with these crazy, psychedelic trousers (looking at them now, they remind of something Versace has done, print-wise). Found them while doing some browsing in a  that I wouldn’t “normally” purchase from. But when I’m shopping I like to look thru every department because I never know when I might come across a piece that I find interesting. I like to take an unexpected piece and style it to my liking. So even though it may come from a section targeted towards a someone with a different style/taste then myself, I take that piece and incorporate it into my personal style. So these trousers was that piece for me. So much so that I also bought another pair with a different pattern and colors. So my tip for today is: Don’t be afraid to browse thru other departments of a store. Keep an open mind while shopping and when you find a piece that sparks your interest, style it to your liking. That’s what personal style is all about! God Bless!

Saturday: I know it’s Spring, but here on the East Coast, it still feels like Winter. Today was only in the 30’s when I left and pretty windy all day. So since it’s still so cold (we even had snow flurries today, ugh!), why not dress for the temperature and not the season. I’m not one to put away the previous season’s clothing so fast. You never know when the temp. may not be what you expect. I always have whatever the weather calls for accessible so I don’t have to hunt around for things. I know many of you may have already put away those coats, but not I. It is still so chilly in the mornings that a heavier coat is required, even though the temps in the afternoon may go up a little. Just carry that coat out with you instead of wearing it after work. I don’t know about you, but I don’t play with being cold. I’d rather be hot and sweating then cold. But that’s just me! Anyway, hopefully within the next couple of weeks we’ll be able to dress like it’s Spring. Until then, continue to style those Winter pieces and maybe incorporate your new Spring pieces that you are anxious to wear. God Bless!

Friday: Have you ever had one of those days where you didn’t feel like getting dressed but you had to because you had to leave the house? Well, this was one of those days. I didn’t really feel like getting dressed but since I had to, I wanted to be extra comfy. Everyone who knows me, knows that I love a pair of pajamas/lounge outfit/onesie. I live in one of these whenever I’m in the house! So when I came across this paisley pant set, it was a must have. It is so comfy and roomy, it’s just like wearing a pair of pjs. But as to not look like one of those people who actually wear their pjs outside (bad idea), I threw on this long cardi, some accessories and some creepers to show that I actually did make an effort to get dressed today and did not just roll out of bed and head outside. Thanks for reading! Until next time, God Bless!

Minimalist

Sunday: Another pair of culottes (different styles worn here, here, here). These I picked about 1 yr ago. Trying to get a wear out of them before the warmer weather gets here. They are a lined tweed so they’re are quite warm but not too hot. Tweed/wool can be a bit difficult to wear because if it isn’t lined then it is really itchy. This outfit is minimalistic for me. No eye-catching details just your basic turtleneck which I chose to wear without any neck accessory. Instead I opted for my large circle framed glasses to add some quirkiness. The boots add a little pop. Not of color but the white contrasts nicely against the all black. These boots are really, really old. I don’t remember when or where I purchased them but apparently I have never worn them by the looks of the untouched soles/heels. I don’t know what year they were bought be they remind me of some styles that are worn by today’s current streetstyle stars. A sneaker/boot hybrid that is a bit odd/strange looking, but that’s what I like about them. You know me, if it’s strange-looking, quirky and/or weird, it’s for me! Hope you had a great 1st day of Spring weekend! Maybe it will soon feel like Spring and we can start to lighten up (literally) on the clothing and shoes! God Bless!

Seasonal Mixology

IMG_6593 IMG_6543 IMG_6569 IMG_6547 IMG_6540 IMG_6538 IMG_6587 IMG_6563

Sunday: Today I’m doing a bit of season mixing. This is the time of the year where it gets a little confusing on what to wear cause our weather on the East Coast is a bit if-y. It’s almost Spring so it gets slightly warmer in the afternoon than it is in the morning. So how do you know what to wear so that you are comfortable in either case? Well, that’s when I decide to mix things up. And also because I want to get the last wear out of my Winter clothing. So today I went with “Winter” on top and “Spring/Summer” on the bottom. Even though technically I would wear the bottoms in the colder months too, maybe with tights underneath for extra warmth. Next time I might wear these with a lighter weight top and open toe sandals. Trend Alert: Culottes are on trend for this season. You can find them in alot of stores in several colors, fabrics and lengths. They look good on all body types so don’t be afraid to try them out! God Bless!

L.A.M.B and Lips

Sunday: I know I’ve said it before, I love a dropcrotch pant! These are especially cool because of the cross-over detail. I just noticed, but the blouse also has that cross-over detail. I’m not one to bare a lot of cleavage so I really like that they added a small snap closure at the cleavage area. It still was a little too revealing (for my taste), for church so I wore a cami underneath. Also, the fact that it is completely sheer also helped in that decision to wear something underneath. I love the lip print, so quirky and fun. Wearing my braids in this top knot gave me flashbacks of the late 80’s/early 90’s so I went with that feeling a added the big, “dookie” “name” (QUEEN) earrings. Yes, because I see myself as a queen and all women for that matter. Until we meet again, take care and God Bless!

Apologies for not doing a second post the last time I said I would. Thoses photos turned out too blurry and not worthy of posting. Anyway,  here are a few shots taken a while ago. The sweatshirt is a hand-me-down from Javar. He’s gaining some weight/muscle and can no longer fit some things so I snatch up the pieces I want. This teddy coat is the short version of the black one and cream one worn in other posts. Actually, I don’t know now if the cream one was worn in a post but anyway. And of course, a leopard print bootie is a neutral to me. Hope you had a great weekend. God bless!
