Minus the VPL, this outfit comes off rockstar-ish! From the Hendrix tee to the biker-style ankle booties. The slipdress I picked up at last year’s charity shopping event (CCCS). It’s that time of the year again so I’m super excited to see what I can pick up this year! I actually go this dress in black too. Thinking about styling it for the colder weather with a sweater, tights and boots. But we’ll see. Rocking my afro after taking my braids out, on my way to go get my hair cut. The after to this before pic you will see in the next blog post. God Bless!

P.S.: Just noticed that me and Jimmy have the same hairstyle!

This is one of the vintage pieces that I picked up in Chicago. I like to hit up the thrift stores and go vintage shopping whenever I visit a different city. I do my research online before I get there so that I have a well executed plan as to where to go, store hours and the best way to get there. Wicker Park was the neighborhood. They had several stores up and down the street. I spent my time going in and out of stores (while the hubby patiently waited). He knows that’s my thing when we travel! It’s also where I picked up this awesome Stella McCartney look-a-likes from Steve Madden. I think they are too trendy and not worth the hundreds of dollars asked for by the designer ones. But that’s just my opinion. Do what you like with your own money ;). Thanks for reading! God Bless!

Knit One, Pearl Two

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been missing in action from the blog due to a case of laziness when it comes to booting up the laptop, uploading pics, editing through to find the keepers and then posting. But if you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m still around posting outfit pics. If you don’t already follow me, you can @1ststatestyle on IG. Anyway, I thought these knit shorts were really cute when I came across them. The problem was #1: it’s Winter time, #2: they’re pretty short and #3: I could save them to wear when it’s warmer outside but the problem with that is that they may just cause some sweating in unwanted areas! So, I decided to just do some quick photos of how I would style them and wear them to just lounge around the house when the temps outside are a bit chilly but the house is cozy and warm. They work well for me while I lounge around maybe reading a book, coloring in my adult coloring book, watching tv, sipping tea or just about anything! Well, I got some more pics to post. God Bless!

I finally decided to wear this jumpsuit that I picked up last year. It was a pretty warm day, not too hot, so appropriate enough for pants. I could’ve also worn shorts or a dress but this was an opportunity for me to give this jumpsuit a go without being too hot. I love that the fabric is very lightweight and with the wide legs gives the look a whole easy breezy feel. I was hesitant about not wearing an undertop and having my bra revealed but I didn’t like how any top underneath looked, so what the hack, showing the bra won out (should of changed into a prettier one and not my standard, supportive everyday type,       ha ha!). Too bad I’m not a part of that group that can go braless because it would’ve made for a better look with the crisscross back of the jumpsuit. Oh well! The best thing about this look of all was that it felt as if I was wearing pj’s, which is always a good thing for me! Until, next time, God Bless!
